The second quarter of 2024 saw diverse trends in the performance of the top five business apps in Africa on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here’s a closer look at how these apps fared in terms of weekly downloads, active users, and revenue.
LinkedIn: Network & Job Finder showed significant growth in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $82K in early April and peaking at around $112K by the end of June. Weekly downloads also saw a consistent rise, beginning at about 97K and reaching over 150K. Active users increased steadily from around 3.2M to 3.6M by the quarter's end.
Zoom Workplace experienced fluctuations in both revenue and downloads. Weekly revenue started at around $7.6K, peaking at approximately $11.2K in the final week of June. Downloads began at 111K, fluctuating throughout the quarter, and ended at around 127K. Active users saw a downward trend, starting from 1.6M and ending at about 1.65M.
Cryptoguru: Trading Academy had no revenue reported but saw a dramatic increase in downloads and active users. Downloads surged from about 19K in early April to over 214K by the end of June. Active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at around 98K and reaching over 415K.
Microsoft Teams had steady download numbers, beginning at approximately 83K and ending at around 77K. Active users showed a slight decline, starting at about 1.1M and ending at 1.06M by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Business remained a strong performer in terms of downloads and active users. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting from about 967K and ending at over 707K. Active users remained robust, increasing slightly from 12.8M to approximately 13.3M.
